How Live Races work

Live Races are online one-on-one races where one player challenges another. You earn RP (which builds your online rank) and can win keys, and the player who gets challenged can choose to bet cash on the race. Win and you take the pot, lose and you hand it over, so bet within your means.

The dyno bracket trick

This is the part that wins races before you drive. Matchmaking groups cars by their dyno time in narrow brackets of roughly two tenths of a second. The boundary is what matters: a car that dynos at 12.10 sits at the fast end of its bracket and gets matched against slower cars, while a car at 12.09 drops into the next bracket down and faces quicker rivals.

So the trick is to tune your car to sit just past a bracket boundary, fast in real terms, but landing at the top of a slower roster. A car that can comfortably beat its dyno time on the strip makes an excellent Live Race weapon, because the matchmaker rates it slower than it actually runs.
