How to Transfer Your CSR2 Account to a New Phone (Without Losing Progress) (2026)

CSR2 MODS Team · July 8, 2026

Few moments in mobile gaming are as quietly stressful as opening a game on a new phone and seeing a fresh tutorial instead of your garage. If you've put months or years into CSR Racing 2, that garage is worth protecting, and the good news is that moving it to a new device is simple once you know how the game actually saves progress. Here's the full picture: how CSR2 accounts work, the safe transfer steps, the backup most players never set up, and what to do if something has already gone wrong.

How CSR2 saves your progress

CSR2 does not use a username and password of its own. Your progress lives on the game's servers, attached to the platform account you play under: Game Center on iPhone and iPad, Google Play Games on Android. When you're signed into that platform account on your device and you open CSR2, the game links your progress to it automatically. That link is the whole transfer mechanism, sign into the same platform account on another device and your garage follows you.

This is also the single most common way progress gets lost: playing without being signed in at all. If CSR2 has nothing to attach your save to, a new phone starts from zero. So before anything else, check you're signed in today, on your current phone, while everything still works.

Moving to a new phone, step by step

  • 1. On your old phone, confirm the link. Make sure you're signed into Game Center (iOS) or Google Play Games (Android), then open CSR2 once so the latest progress syncs to the server.
  • 2. Note your player details. In the game's settings you can find your player and support identifiers. Screenshot them. If anything goes wrong later, support will ask for these.
  • 3. On the new phone, sign into the same platform account first. Same Apple ID with Game Center, or the same Google account in Play Games, before you install the game.
  • 4. Install CSR2 and open it. The game should find your linked save and load your garage. If it asks which profile to load, pick the one with your real progress, check the level and stats shown before confirming.

That's the whole process on the same platform. Your cars, currency, keys and event progress all live server-side, so nothing needs to be copied manually.

The backup step most players skip: link Facebook

Inside CSR2's settings you can also connect the game to Facebook. It takes a minute and gives your account a second anchor: if a platform sign-in ever misbehaves, logging into Facebook on the new install can restore your progress. Think of it as a spare key. You hopefully never need it, but the players who lose accounts are almost always the ones with a single point of failure.

The catch: iPhone to Android (or back) doesn't work officially

Here's the limitation that surprises everyone. Progress syncs within a platform only. Game Center saves restore to iOS devices, Google Play saves restore to Android devices, and Zynga's own support pages confirm that syncing across iOS and Android is not possible through the game itself. Switch sides with a new phone and, officially, your garage stays behind.

This is a problem we get asked about so often that we built a service for it: our CSR2 account swapping service moves your progress between platforms at the account level, so an iPhone-to-Android switch (or the reverse) doesn't cost you your garage. If you're weighing up a platform switch, it's worth reading before you migrate anything.

If the game already loaded as a fresh account

Don't panic, and more importantly, don't keep playing on the fresh profile. The more you progress on the new empty account, the messier the recovery becomes. Instead:

  • Check which platform account the device is actually signed into. A different Apple ID or Google account is the cause nine times out of ten.
  • Sign into the correct account, then reopen CSR2 and let it re-link.
  • If you linked Facebook back in the day, connect it on the new install and let it pull your save.
  • Still nothing? Contact the game's support through its help section with your old player details, purchase receipts help prove ownership. Recovery through support takes patience but works when you can identify the account.

And if your account issue is a ban rather than a lost link, that's a different problem with different rules, covered honestly in our CSR2 unban guide.

A quick word on account safety

Because your progress is tied to your platform login, treat that login like the asset it is: keep two-step verification on, don't share credentials casually, and change your password after anyone has had access, including after any service delivery, ours included. We go deeper on this in our honest guide to CSR2 account safety. And if you're setting up a fresh phone anyway and fancy upgrading the garage while you're at it, the store is right here, everything is delivered to your own account, usually in about 20 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I transfer CSR2 to a new phone?

Sign into the same platform account on the new phone that you used on the old one, Game Center on iOS or Google Play Games on Android, then install and open CSR2. Your progress is stored server-side against that account, so the game loads your garage automatically. Confirm you were signed in on the old phone first.

Can I move my CSR2 account from iPhone to Android?

Not officially. CSR2 progress syncs within a platform only, Game Center for iOS and Google Play Games for Android, and cross-platform syncing is not supported by the game. Our account swapping service exists for exactly this case and moves progress between platforms at the account level.

Why did CSR2 start as a new game on my new phone?

Almost always because the new device is signed into a different Apple ID or Google account, or into none at all. Stop playing on the fresh profile, sign into the correct platform account, and reopen the game so it re-links. A linked Facebook account can also restore the save.

Does CSR2 have its own login or password?

No. There is no CSR2 username and password. Your save is attached to your Game Center or Google Play Games account, with Facebook available as an optional extra link. That's why being signed into the right platform account matters more than anything else.

Will my cash, gold, keys and cars transfer with my account?

Yes. Everything lives on the game's servers, cars, currencies, keys, event progress and purchases, so a correct same-platform transfer brings all of it. Nothing is stored only on the old phone.
